About Kalan Roye - Systems/Software Engineer
About Me
I started coding at 8 years old, after my dad sat me down, took apart our Windows XP computer, and showed me what was inside. That curiosity never really left. What started with tinkering turned into years of teaching myself how to build things across software, AI, data, and infrastructure.
Since then, I've built full-stack products used by real people, trained machine learning models, developed software for government and industry, run my own servers and infrastructure, and turned ideas into projects that have won startup and technology competitions. I like understanding how things work end to end, whether that means designing an interface, building the system behind it, training a model, or figuring out the hardware it all runs on.
More than anything, I want to build things that matter. I'm ambitious about the impact I want to have, but I've always believed the best way to get there is the same way I started: stay curious, learn what I don't know, and keep building.
When I'm not coding, you'll usually find me hiking when summer shows up, or deep in the rabbit hole of the latest tech news.
